Hey guys,

My wife and I were in Gettysburg yesterday and I took some photos that I think you guys will enjoy.  As you probably know, Gettysburg does not light any of their monuments at night, so it gets pitch black out on the battlefield at night.  Well, there is a photo technique that I have been trying to learn for the past year called "Painting with Light" with varying sucess.  Well, at sunset we drove over to the Pennsylvania Monument and I tried to put everything I have learned over the past year to the test.  Here is one of the shots I got.......if you would like to see more, they are in the "What's New" section of my website, http://www.virtualcivilwar.com  Enjoy!

Hey Rebel Yell, we were actually headed to the Virginia Memorial to do that.....and then I saw the Pennsylvania Memorial and thought it would be perfect to try it last night. The next time we're there I will make sure to do this with the VA one!

Thanks Susan! I'm glad you saw them, nice hearing from you!

That is just awesome! I have never seen the monument look like that. Of course, I never did see it at night or near night. Remarkable photo!

Thanks Dixie Girl & Cleburne Fan. They actually don't light it at night, so it is normally completely dark....I lit it that way. I'm glad you liked it!

Poster- or calendar-quality shot, VCW! Better copyright it before somebody steals it off of this site.

Thanks ArtorBart....actually I send CD's to the Library of Congress on a regular basis to cover me and my work.  Thanks for the compliment!

Fabulous work! I'd never heard of painting with light. After seeing your photos, I googled the topic. It's pretty amazing stuff!

Thanks for sharing these beautiful shots, and for turning me on to a new technique to play with.

You're very welcome BigPowell.....it's a lot of fun, and you don't really know if it's gonna work until you see the final product....that's what makes it fun!
