Posting in CAPS, changing your moniker to "former member", etc. isn't going to help anyone understand whatever it is you mean.
You're upset because people don't change opinions they've held for decades when you think they should? Guess what, they're never going to and it really doesn't mattter what anybody says. Do you really think a well-phrased post on a discussion board is going to miraculously change beliefs handed down through generations? Perhaps it's time time you reign in expectations and come back to the real world.
Is this an "editorial message board" rather then a discussion board as you say? Perhaps. It's whatever it's members want it to be. You seem surprised at that. I'm frankly humored by your surprise.
Since you are now a "former member" I wish you luck finding that utopian forum where all will bow to the wisdom you wish to sprinkle upon them. Good luck with that. And since you started this thread and have now evidently gone to seek greener pastures, I'll do you the favor of closing the thread.
