Folks,
For many years, CWi has followed the same basic schedule - news posted early in the morning, trivia at 9am CT, etc. There's a very good chance that may soon have to change.
Due to tightning economic times, I have had to take on a second job for supplemental income. Today I was hired! It's a great job as a tech support person for a major internet company. Best of all, it allows me to work from home, so we can continue CWi. But I will be starting at 7am, hence the possibility of some schedule changing. The job is dependent on a background check which is being done now. Assuming no problems with that (I hope ), training will begin May 1.
What this means is that we'll have to change the times news and trivia are done, probably to late afternoon. Shouldn't really be a big deal since both will still be up for the same length of time. This is all tentative as I said, so no definite time has been set. Just wanted to give everyone a head's-up so that if it happens it won't be a total shock. Thanks all...

Oh No! Background Check! So Mr. Javal tell me about that "girl" in the little bar in New London, CT back in 1978.
Hope the new job works out well and you are able to keep up here too (I know being selfish here), we'd really miss you if the other job demanded too much from you.

LOL - gee, thanks for that David They're only supposed to go back 7 years so it shouldn't be a problem.
It really is a great opportunity. Pay is only $10/hr. which is very low in some areas, but in rural west TN it's very good. Add to that the money saved that I would have to spend on gas alone since the nearest jobs here would require a total daily commute of 60+ miles in a 20 year old car. In short - I'm psyched. No way would I give up CWi. I have an obligation to not only our paid advertisers, but also to those who have donated.

Thanks for the congrats folks. Sorry Dixie, almost all Work At Home jobs (wahj) require you to be 18. Due to a non-disclosure agreement, I can't say the name of the co. that I got on with, but...
Remember that for every legitimate WAHJ, there are 100 scams. Took me months to research . For those interested, the list found here is a great resource. Take special note of where they're hiring. Also pay attention to the column marked "IC/EM" (Independent Contractor vs. Employee) I would avoid the IC route unless you really love doing your own taxes 4 times a year. Research each one carefully. All are different. And remember, with gas at $3.50, competition is getting rougher every day...

Joe, best of luck on the job. I actually retired in February after 36 years with the hospital. Fortunately I married a younger woman who still works and I get a nice pension. I'm pleased to hear you will maintain this wonderful site as it is often a high point of my day.

Well, lots of good news! My background check is done and all is fine. I have orientation this Friday and next Monday. My official training begins Friday May 9th and lasts 2 weeks, then onto real work.
So what that means for CWi is this: trivia players can expect a day off on Friday, May 9th. When trivia resumes on Tuesday May 13th, the question will be posted at about 5pm Central Time. That will be the new permanent posting time for trivia.
As for news, we'll be posting it in the afternoon rather than early morning. That means you'll actually get it quicker. Currently, Laurie gathers the news in the afternoon, and I post it the following morning. With the new times, we'll be posting it as soon as it's gathered.
We got even more great news a few days ago when we found at that Laurie had also been hired by a different work-at-home firm. That might affect the times/days that TWIB is done, but we won't know till she gets her schedule. We're doing the happy-dance here. So there's your update. Thanks for sticking with us through this!!
