Just out of politeness I'm saying hello. I come from the other side of the world and there is nothing else about me worth knowing. I hope I can contribute positively to this excellent forum.

I doubt that and in fact I want to know why Fremont is your favorite general and where in the world you come from?  Welcome to the board you have already made some very interesting posts.

Will go along with the Aggie. All of us came from the other side of the world at one time or another. Anything you can share or contribute will have value.

Shoot!  My whole family came from the other side of the world.  I am but two generations removed.

My husband's family came from the UK.  Way before Patrick Henry gave his speech.

So, what country do you be from?

Should have mentioned that my paternal grandfather was born here of immigrant parents. My mother was born here of immigrant parents. My wife was born here of immigrant parents. Of course, my children were not, but that's another story. Make yourself at home. The other side of the world is next door.

Thanks for the welcome. I guess we're all immigrants far enough down the ancestral line. I chose Frémont as my favourite general because Grant (my real favourite) was a little too cliched a choice, and there are other aspects about the life of Frémont that fascinate me, particularly his expeditions in the West.
