Folks, I hope this is correct.  I've been a daily reader of CWi for a number of years.  I just never created a member account.  I enjoy the Civil War posts the most.

I'm a high school Special Education teacher who incorporates my passion/hobbie into my classroom, when I can.   I'm also a proud member of the Sons fo Union Veterans of the Civil War (Francine Camp #7).  I re-enact for Co. D, 7th NJ as well.

I hope to be an able contributor to this web site.  I have even given it out to my hostory classes when they do their CW reports/projects.

Washington Township in Gloucester County.  The town's name is Turnersville.  Some folks refer to it as Blackwood because that's the mailing address.  It's the same zip no matter.

Headed up your way to NYC on Monday. My daughter graduated from Rutgers.
Jerseys probably the most misunderstood state, especially for southeners. Great state.

Well, thank you!  Although I don't quite share as much enthusiasm for it as some.

Many southerners vacationed at the Jersey Shore before the CW.  NJ seems to have a history for swinging from both sides of the plate.  It does make for interesting history!

Actually...not quite.  I never really could lay claim to such a name.

The reason for the name is that it was the sobriquet that Gen. McClellan hung on the 2nd DE at the Battle of Antietam (Sharpsburg for our Southern Brethren).  It was my g-g-grandfather's unit (Co. B).  He was Pvt. James Lovegrove Marlin of Philadelphia, PA.

Somes say "crazy".  Somes say "cranky".  I says "cooking".  He'll have your mouth watering when he gets to talking about food....

Thanks for the history lesson - good story!
