Does anybody remember the shpw from the 70's BJ and the Bear about the truck driver and his monkey? I saw it on tv the other day. My mama still knows the theme song from this show and she hasn't seen it in years. I loved the monkey, he was adorable. I have to say that show is better than a lot of them on tv today.

BJ and the Bear considered quality television? Sheesh, what's next Sheriff Lobo (which, IIRC was a spin-off from BJ and the Bear)? God, sometimes I'd like to forget the 70s and early 80s. Best Rob

Rob there were some pretty bad shows about then and BJ was one of them. I agree with you there. Never did see Sheriff Lobo. Susan

Looking at what you once were and seeing some yer other posts you seem religious then I think as a joke it is safe to say The power of Christ repel's you. only chokeing though.

not super religious. i will pray sometimes, read the Bible in church but thats it. mostly i like worldly things as my grandma says.

Then there were the every day work clothes. I started out the 70's with mini skirted dresses that were so short, I had to learn to do the bunny dip to work with my kindergarteners and not flash them. Then a few years later I was wearing maxi skirts so long I stepped on the hem working with a kindergartener and could not get up . Then there were th famalare shoes with the rubber soles about three inches thick. Very comfortable to wear standing on your feet all day but step wrong and your ankle twisted. Then there was my haircuts, first the shag, then the afro (my hair broke off from the constant perms ) and lastly in the 70's was the Hamil wedge haircut worn by three of us that worked together and got our hair done by the same hairdresser . Talk about the Bobbsey Twins or in this case would have been triplets . Oh and then there were all those polyester pants suits. They don't breath!! Since we were by then allowed to wear pants suits to work I did not have to worry about flashing kindergarteners anymore. For causual there were the hip hugger jeans that needed a big belt to keep them up and my favorite Mexican cape worn over a body shirt . For several years at the beginning of the 70's I think I lived in that outfit when not at work. This was worn with a small knit skull cap type cap on the back of my head over my shag hair do. I know I thought I looked soooo cool. Oh and then there were the palazoo pants, poorboy sweaters , etc etc. I tripped on the palazoo pants too. Wide Wide long legs . I had these wide toed white shoes I wore with them . A boy friend asked if I was wearing baby shoes one night. They looked like the white baby shoes worn by babies except mine were not high tops. Well that was a lovely trip though the past history of my fashion statements. Ugh!!! Susan

Just a doggone minute here. In the 70s, I wore a light blue polyester liesure suit and one of white denim (which really accentuated the hard body beneath it). Things change. They always do. And sometimes one gets caught up in the short end of that change. Personally, I'm waiting for flares to come back. ole

I am ashamed to tell it but,I dressed like Sonny Crockett. I along with many others in the early80's thought he was cool. Yes I remember "B J & The Bear." I will do you one better. Talking about Sheriff Lobo. Does anyone remember "Movin On"? My show in the Seventies was "Emergency" I loved that show so much I had a red bike and a pole in my treehouse. I went on to become what they were. That was my motivation. I never changed my mind. Now I am ready to give it back to to the powers that be. I am looking to retirement soon after 19 years. I grew up around18 wheelers. I soon became a driver of those when I turned 21. I still drive occasionally on my days off from the FD for fun. I thought Sonny Pruett & Will Chandler were the real deal truck drivers. Now I work for my cousin part time and getting ready for my second career in the funeral business.
