Good for you Doc. I wish I could find a part time job to support my Civil War habit. Miss Susan

Devils Den, My mothers uncle went to school with Jimmie Foxx in fact he was the school photographer. Before he died he showed me some pictures he took and one was an old school picture with Foxx and some other school mates. Speaking of Gettysburg and baseball, Hall of Fame pitcher Eddie Plank was born in Gettysburg.

20th_Mass, Yes, "Gettysburg Eddie" was born in Gettysburg and is, in fact, buried in Evergreen Cemetary. He returned to Gettysburg and was a battlefield tour guide in the off season and after he retired from baseball! His grave is one of the many sites we try to take people to when we visit. Thanks for sharing (are you by chance a Red Sox fan?) Devils Den

I was a HUGE Brooks Robinson fan when I was growing up. Watching him play 3rd base was like watching an artist with a brush. But Oriole values changed drastically with ownership changes they have not been the same in years. I started rooting for the Red Sox in the 80's when they had cursed for years! Do you follow the Rockies at all? D.D.

O's have one of the worst owners in professional sports. Would have been nice if Ripkens group had been able to buy them a couple of years ago. They're never going anywhere while he's the owner. Was at Ripkens last professional game in '01. Actually played in a softball game against Boog Powell while a pediatric resident in Little Rock. The mets-o's series back in '69 was magical. Doc C

No I don't follow the Rockies that much. I did last year when they went on that run but that was it.

Doc C, I agree on the issues with the Orioles! Played against Boog's son, John, in Ocean City softball leagues for years. Also with some of the OLD Orioles in the Michael Bolton Celbrity softball games. Cal Ripken Sr. was our coach and he was so great to be around, treated all of us like we were major league players. Did not have the nerve to get into the conversation about his being let go by the Orioles after they signe Cal Jr. to a long term deal. Great man and a true Oriole, the likes of which they could use a whole team of. Was at the first game of the 1969 World Series and saw Don Buford hit the home run and lead the Birds to victory. Short lived joy as the Met's could not be defeated after that. Devils Den

DD I live in Easton. Moved here from Salisbury about 2 years ago. In fact, going to Salisbury this afternoon to do my 5 day gig. Been looking for individuals in our area who might be interested in starting a cw roundtable. The closest ones are in Annapolis, DC, Baltimore and Wilmington. Doc C
