Joanie,

I don't believe for a minute my waters run deep enough to be over your head.

Joanie,
Actually, "Gentlemen start your Engines" are the last 4 words of DIXIE

Ah, Ed!  Thank you for reminding me.  My soul feels steeped in sweet tea....

I am afeard that this now-high-energy drive to introduce Roger to NASCAR will fall through unless we really give Roger something solid to work with.

I am serious about getting Roger copies of the Dale documentary, plus the 2000 Winston 500 from the 6-disc Dale DVD set.

I just spoke with a friend whom said that it actually is the case that  DVD's from the United States won't work in England.  Is this really true?   Dang!

What about VCR video tapes?  Do they work the same on both continents?

Let us not forget Carl Edwards

I thought that for sure, that Mid-western/Western Boy Carl was Something Very Special in Spirit and Talent, even if he wasn't Southern.  I was on the verge of becoming A Carl Edwards Fan until he had-at Matt Kenseth the first time, all sardonic with the thumbs-up-on-the-track-thing.    Then, he REALLY went at Matt K. - his own teammate - the second time, !!!! during Matt's being interviewed on camera, and it was ugly

Well, that did it!  I am now officially a Carl Edwards fan.  :D:D:D:D:D

It's just, he's behind 5 or 6 others on my NASCAR dance card.

I dont see why vcr tapes wouldnt work. If we keep educating Roger in the wonderful thing that is NASCAR he'll be just as big a fan as the rest of us

The problem with dvds is the same problem that vhs tapes would have .  They are a different system in Europe and won't play .  http://parents.berkeley.edu/recommend/arts/video_europe.html

Which is why we spend so much time enthusiastically discussing darts and soccer here in the Idle Chit-Chat section of CWi!:P;):):D

At least in darts, you get to be your own driver..er, thrower... er, darter.

As for soccer, I simply refuse to worship David Beckem, esp.  when there is Jr. for that sort of thing.

(Lookie! - I've brought my posting back around to the subject-line, except that now it is, "Dale Junior:  Cain't Hate the Eighty-Eight".)

I Love David Beckem. He is sooooooo hot, plus he's a great soccer player. As much as I love football and NASCAR I love soccer more. I've been playing since I was in third grade. I play foreward so I'm in all the action

DixieGirl, do you follow any European soccer (it pains me to write that. We call it football but for the sake of avoiding confusion)teams?

Here I come back after being gone for a few weeks ( started a new job YEAH ) and find that the NASCAR thread is the biggest and baddest one on CWI LOL you all kill me.

REB wrote : YoungLobo is one of my favorite NASCAR friends here, and his roots in the sport run deep, he's got the knowedge and the history running in his veins.

Thanks for the kind words Reb that blood would have to be Petty blue that is who dad and Gpa watched while I was young.

Roger Pick a car that stands out and is easy to spot on the track Jeff's rainbow car was really easy to spot when he first started. Also pick a driver that you like the way he talks in interviews ect. I used to hate Jimi Johnson till I watched him on ESPN. Stewarts car stands out easy and he is never at a loss for words.

REB.. could you buy me one of them barrett - Jackson cars I love you soo much ya know you want to !!!  You just watch JR is going to be trying to play Catch up to my flames all year LOL

I am not even hardly bothering to read, just jumping up and doing my happy dance because Younglobo is back!

I have truly missed you Younglobo, and was about to put out a CWi APB on you!

Younglobo, I am So Glad about the new job for YOU:  and So glad that YOU are back in time for the NASCAR season to start for ME! (As well as just back...woops! 'scuse me, I'm going mushy or something, and that should only be reserved for Rainbow Warriors, not us Stoic Smoke-sters)

"As much as I love football and NASCAR I love soccer more."

Oh-oh, I almost became tummy-sick until I read the next sentence:

"I've been playing since I was in third grade. I play foreward so I'm in all the action."

Well, that makes a difference...If you actually actively participate and love it, I'm all for it, even if it's curling or shuffleboard (actually, curling is kinda cool!)

Me, I want another dirt-bike.  Second child-hood or something.

Thank You, Susan!  This was most informative.  )(90

Well, now I know what we are up against, but I am not giving up.

IMHO, The Dale DVD should be required viewing for all NASCAR fans....and perhaps for fans of Great Americans, in general, as well.

Joanie

I follow England and Wales. I hate the American team they suck. Some Americans are not ment to play football (soccer). I am always open to following more teams though. As for American DVD's not working in England I've solved the problem. We get Roger a American DVD player. All you gotta do is plug it in and watch Dale.

I understand that the former Boy-Wonder's strategy this year is to just try to keep Young E in sight, so that Lil' Jeffie can  come in second all the way to The Chase.  (He's wrong, of course, with Smoke in the equation, that would be third....).

Anyway, that Mountain Dew of Jr's is gonna be putting Lil' Jeffie's flames out, fur sure.

And, speaking of Hendrick's drivers, Jimmie Who?  Does he, like, have a sponser?

I'm gonna die laughing if Casey Mears wins at Daytona!  Wonder if the NASCAR Gods have that big of a sense of humor.  (But hey, every Casey has his day, and this Mears one fur sure deserves his.)
