Folks, My best freind just returned from SW Nebraska, her home town. She has posed the following question to me. "I have a question for you: do you know of any summer camps (for next year) for teenagers with a focus on reinactments? A friend knows of a kid with an interest in the Civil War." On one hand the reenactments themselves are "camps", but I think this means longer than a week and for youth. Any suggestions or advice? CKL

I beleive Pamplin Military Park at Petersburg Va. offers an overnight camp geared for youth. They have a very informative web site.

I recall that one is held in Richmond, VA. It was only an overnight thing. Although with the current economic cut backs I don't know if they are still doing that. I tried to start one up with the local boy scouts but our town was not willing to help us out with funding or support. I had space at a local boy scout camp lined up but needed financial help with some gear. It never panned out. It would have been a 3 day weekend event.
