When I took a trip to Springfield IL, I was walking down the street, and I came app-on a little museum. I went in, and it was FULL of old civl war artifacts!! I loved it!! And in a frame, it had the believed bunting that JWB caught his spur on when jumping from the presidential box. it also had some battle flags. It was great!!! I don't know if anyone can identify the name, but anyone who goes to springfield should look for it!!

Was just going to post that it must be the GAR musuem.  A group of us visited the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War museum . I called and made an appointment for us just to make sure someone was there.   We had a grand time visiting and seeing the little museum.  We also got to be the first to find out they had just bought the house next door. We only got to peek in the windows but oh my it is lovely.

Sometimes the best museums are the smalls ones with good people in them to show you around.

While in Springfield don't miss the Museum of Funeral Customs also .  It is out by the cemetery .   Many interesting exhibits.  Many related to Lincoln .

yeah, we went on the springfield ghost walk and when you go to that you get a free pass into the museum of FC. They did have a lot relating to lincoln. I believe they had a cardboard (not sure if thats the material) eagle that was on Lincoln's Funereal train.
