My problem with the movie is not with the actors. If the actors win Oscars, thats okay with me.
My problem with the movie is that it is full of historical inaccuracies, the worst of which involve the 13th Amendment. As I have pointed out, the screenwriter engaged in a deliberate distortion of history involving that vote. I can understand why the folks in Connecticut feel that they have been defamed.
Call me a historical : "Purist" if you wish, but I can't countenance a: "Key message" that is sent through the means of making a deliberate falsification of historical events. Unlike you, I cannot applaud or find: "Fascinating" a movie that is riddled with historical distortions and purposeful prevarications. To me, it is simply offensive.
Editing: Here is what one resident of the state of Connecticut (Who is also a graduate of the University of Texas) has to say about Mr. Lincoln, and how he is presented in the movie:
Lincoln: An invented hero As I said on another thread, no politician is universally loved. In his time, Mr. Lincoln was loved by many and hated by many. Nowadays his image, at least, is mostly loved.
