My discussion with Pender about Cedar Mountain, the reading I am doing out of Krick's book, indicate to me General Early deserves lots of accolades for his rapid turn of his regiments to halt the Union attack from rolling up Stonewall. Also that move saved Pegrem's cannon around the cedar thicket.

What y'all think?

I think you are right. Early's brigade pretty much held up a whole Union division on the Confederate right flank singlehandedly (of course, he did have just as many troops in his brigade as his attackers did in their division). That allowed Jackson to get reinforcements to the left. But, yes, he did handle the situation quite well and was able to coordinate a pretty well executed attack later on in the day. My two cents.
