I read this newsblurb from today's news articles posted at CWi: http://www2.ljworld.com/blogs/lawrence_news/2007/nov/13/mizzou_shirts/ Then moved on to this one. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/11/12/we-burned-your-town-to-the-ground/ I laughed. Reading the responses from many at the second site, many did not laugh. What do YA'All think? Thanks, Joanie Last edited on Thu Nov 15th, 2007 04:47 am by JoanieReb |

On the one hand, at least the kids know their history, so they must be teaching it somewhere. Take heart in that. On the other hand, of couse it's offensive. After all, it's a college rivalry. I see this all the time when it comes to Duke vs. Carolina. Duke sometimes likes to think it as a patent on clever, but if I have to hear 'Go to hell, Carolina, go to hell' for the 30th consecutive year, I might fear for the state of higher education in this country. In the end, most responses simply reflect the intensity of the rivalry, and usually at the lowest common denominator. On the other hand (??? How many hands do I have?), I thought the best response came from the guy who said the Big 12 is a joke. Now that was funny. He must come from the Big 10. I think it is funny and you are only offended if you want to be. Kansas' response is pretty good too: ![]() As to Big 10 People dissing the Big 12, well it may not be one of our best years for sure but if Michigan beats Ohio State this weekend one could argue that Appalachian State is the true Big 10 Champion and at least we know how to count our teams! Loved that T-shirt, David. Would appear that the fans are as childish as the students. I best liked the response that there are plenty of ways to make fun of Missouri without going back 150 years to find one. ole

Think both shirts are funny. Dont know if I would wear either to the game though. Has a friend that wore a Colts jersy and hat to arrowhead when chiefs lost to colts some drunks hasseled em good. Some folks need to loosen up a little. Dont know if I would want John Brown or Quantrill as a mascot or rep for a cause i was interested in. But this is JUST a football game . Some folks should just grow a thicker skin .
