The Confederate museum in N.O. is called Confederate Hall.. Davis home is now an island on the Mississippi. The river changed course and destroyed the plantation. The land is privately owned and is not available for public viewing. I believe Beauvior will be open to the public in 2008, I have no idea when the presidential Library will reopen. You should also go to see the old state capitol at Jackson. Now a museum, the roof caved in during Katrina, but I believe it is reopened. It has/had the best collection of uniforms I have ever seen. If you are in the Mobile area, go and see Fort Blakeley. The breastworks are magnificient..the best preserved in the nation. This because, it was forgotten for over a hundred years until the state acquired it 20 or so years ago. there are trees growing on the breastworks, having sprouted over the years, but the breastworks go on for miles. Wish I were going with you Ed
