I hope to do two trips this year. (This is one of the few reasons it's good to be single.)

The first one I already have planned for May.

The first real stop will be in Lexington, VA, then onto Lynchburg, Appomattox, a few minor stops on the way to Manassas, including Montpelier and two homes of Thomas Jefferson; Monticello and Poplar Forest.

Then onto Ball's Bluff, Monocacy, Frederick,MD, South Mountain, Antietam, and then two days in Gettysburg.

Eight days, seven nights.

BTW, the second leg of my trip will take me close to Carnifex Ferry, WV. This would add 45 minutes to my long trip from Charleston, WV to stay in Lynchburg, VA. Can anyone tell me if Carnifex Ferry battlefield is worth the extra time/mileage?
