Pistols are far more fun to shoot than rifles, which bore me pretty quickly. It takes a long time to become proficient with a pistol, but once you do, there is a confidence that you have mastered a difficult discipline. the various "snub nosed" pistols are indeed belly guns. accurate no further than the muzzle , but a well made pistol with a 5" barrel or longer can be accurate at distance. For example I have a Ruger Blackhawk .44 mag with a7.5 inch barrel that is accurate at 50 yds and has the power to bring down deer sized game at that distance.
Unfortunately here in the Peoples Republic of Illinois, our masters do not trust us ordinary citizens with the means to protect ourselves and so I cannot legally carry, but hope springs eternal in the breast of man, and maybe in my lifetime it will come to pass.

TD, you are right about col. Jeff Cooper..
