Roger - so are you looking for information on regimental tailors in the Confederate army? I’ve often wondered about this myself. In the regiment that I am currently writing about, they actually had a man go to Richmond to procure material for uniforms. Unfortunately, the writer does not say what they did with the material, if it was sent home to be turned into uniforms, or if the material was taken to camp to be turned into uniforms, or even if it might have been taken to one of the Atlanta area depots and turned into uniforms. Yes, there were men in regiments that could repair uniforms, but making uniforms for scores of men seems like a stretch. Regards, Michael http://www.michaelchardy.com
