Anyone want to offer some suggestions about what the best sites are?
You mean in the Fredericksburg area or ANY area?

In Fredericksburg, of course you have Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg.

The town includes George Washington's boyhood home and where he tossed a quarter, with his likeness, across the Rappahannock. Don't forget Chatham Manor, where Burnside planned the Great Disaster. The Stonewall Jackson Shrine, where he died, is only a few miles south. You can also see Massopannox Church, where Grant held a council of war (made famous in those old pictures.)

Going west towards Chancellorsville is Salem Church.

You need at least 2 days to see everything.

Don't forget the Elmwood Inn, near the Wilderness Battlefield. Stonewall's arm is buried behind it. (More like east of it.)
