You might want to check out Greg Coco's "A Strange and Blighted Land: Gettysburg, The Aftermath of a Battle."  It will certainly answer your question about the disposition of the dead around Culp's Hill.  Amazon has it in paperback for about $20.  Go through this website to Amazon and Joe collects some cash to keep this website going if you order it .
