 Glenda Jackson was superb in that role. I have never forgotten that movie though it has been many years. Another superb portrayal was Helen Mirren's role in the HBO (or BBC) movie about Elizabeth I.

Both these actresses showed the queen as thoroughly tough in a ruthless time when men ruled women, not the other way around.What a remarkable woman Queen Elizabeth I was! No wonder movie after movie has been made about her and the actresses who portray her have the role of a lifetime. Hasn't every one been nominated for an Oscar or even won it?
