We cherish the unexpected and would feel cheated if ever we did not have a memorable unexpected event. At Freericksburg, we met a WWII pilot visiting the park with his grandson. He described his grandfather's charge (he was in Meade's division). He went on to say that he remembered his grandfather telling him about the battle as the old fella lived until our storyteller was about 10 years old. It makes you realize that the war wasn't really all that long ago!
