Joanie,
certainly no hurt feelings or even sensitivity on my part. There are in parts of the South ( Appalachia) folk who are not only poor but uneducated and do not realize they put their health at risk by doing things like eating clay. the clay absorbs nutrients from the body and deprives the fetus of essential vitamins and nutrients... Attn Doc C: report to this thread to clarify my mistakes here..

At any rate it is an issue of education and I sincerely hope this practice has died out... that said, I believe it takes at least a week for the average dirt field (not clay) to reach maturity...but at least you don't have to spray for weeds..they are just additional nutrients.
