It is noted in various books, articles and so forth that it was Stonewall Jackson's Foot Cavalry, but (there is always a but) during the Shenandoah Valley Campaign in 1862 it was Taylor's Louisiana Brigade that was in the lead of the entire army, and keeping up with Mosby's horsemen.
