Last year a friend asked me if I could find anything about the service of one his relatives.  I have a picture of his gravestone which reads:

Christian Schuhmann

Pvt. Long Prairie German Co.

Texas Inf. Regt.

1818    Nov. 9, 1896

P.S. - I just noticed he must have been in his late 40's when he served. Wow!
