You have the good fortune of understanding words and knowing of which you speak. Many folks today don't! Of course the true redneck is just as you describe.. I am talkin about the stereotype. It used to be funny, but is so overworked that I find it the opposite of funny today.

We are not talking about tacky here ...tacky can be from anywhere..
but rather a term that is used today as a putdown of people based on the section of the country they live in, or their occupation, their lifestyle or financial condition
