I've been re-reading some of the various posts on the board regarding Civil War officers that are admired, etc. I notice one name always seems to get overlooked - Adelbert Ames. OK, not a household name, but as I read everything I can find about him, my admiration grows. During his Civil War career, he seems to personify everything a soldier should be. Any opinions on him (and does anyone know of any books on him?)
