Many thanks for that TD. Don't know how it didn't come up on my search. Embarrased also that I never read Profiles In Courage, so I didn't even know Ames was mentioned in it. I realized that there was some controversy regarding his post-war life, but I do admire his wartime service. Another great book regarding some of his post-war activities ia one I just finished - "The Bloody Shirt - Terror After Appomattox" by Stephen Busiansky. Thanks again...
