My dad was a WWII pilot. He used to say that a Navy formation was any 3 Navy pilots flying the same direction, the same day. Navy pilots said you could always tell an Army pilot (before the USAF) because he was the fellow flying down a railroad tracks looking for a station name so he could figure out where he was Ed
