I suppose that if you have no schedule to keep then it makes no difference when you get to your destination, but I once took the train to Chicago...3.5 hr trip...with an hour to spare before the meeting.. I arrived at Union Station 15 minutes before the meeting ajourned. We were that late.. I walked down the tracks to the station, went to Amtrak, exchanged my return ticket for a train boarding then, turned and walked to the departing train, boarded and went home. I was gone about 11 or 12 hours, never got onto a Chicago street and had nothing at all to show for a perfectly horrible day Ed
