Why was a Louisiana Man risking his life in an insignificant/indecisive theater like the east?

Hmmm, let me think — maybe because it wasn't so insignificant? ;)

I wonder if our relatives faced each other? Pfanz says the 8th LA likely was on the left of Hays' brigade, which to me meant it could have brushed up against the 153rd when it swung into ECH. I think the 153rd might have faced elements of the 6th NC as well. Does your research reveal anything?
