Of course I couldn't help but notice that the cannon in the back yard are of the Civil War era.

According to the guide, they've decided to concentrate on the Chatham House's earlier history, instead of it's Civil War history. That probably explains why the back porch is not there or hasn't been replaced. Of course I couldn't help but notice that the cannon in the back yard are of the Civil War era.
