Last month my son,daughter, and I toured Gettysburg on mountain bikes!! What a great way to see the battlefield!! the bikes give you so much more of an open feeling than the car. 

When we came to a location to explore we left the bikes by the road and hiked!! It was a great experience.  I will be doing it again in October.

that sounds like an excellent idea...kinda like a modern day horseback tour. When i get back up there i will have to bring the bike along.
