 I like this "Mount Rushmore" thread, because I will be going there at the end of August, and have never been there before.  I'm on a Habitat for Humanity trip--working on a Lakota Nation reservation--but our group is also doing a little sightseeing. 

I always thought Teddy Roosevelt was up there because he started the National Park program.

Also, I leave tomorrow for a week in Gettysburg.  I'm staying again at that farmhouse on Taneytown Rd. right behind Little Round Top.  With only a week, I am having a very hard time deciding which things on my "list" to do--there's just so many things on that list!!!  It's such a great area--also close to DC, Baltimore, Harper's Ferry, Antietam, etc, etc.
