I too am somewhat offended at the "redneck" image the media attaches to the south but it doesn't mean there isn't something inherently funny in a good old boy style joke. I too am a decendent of Southerners. I am proud of their courage, grit, and determination to build a life here after many difficult times in their native lands of Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales. While many of them were average, working class people; some where also quite prominent in history-William the Conquerer anyone?. My family has been here since Jamestown and is as much a part of the fabric of this country's history as anyone from north of the Mason Dixon and I'll be damned if I'll take their condescending attitude any more that I have to... but that being said I do love a good redneck joke.
