Humor is where you find it. My father was a redneck. In my "neck" of the woods, he was a farmer. When you're in the field from sunupt to sundown, there was no covering up the neck. It became quite tanned. And red.

But there was no talk of rednecks. The feed store manager, the seed salesman, the insurance agent, the lawyer, the banker, the hatcheryman, the doctor, the pharmacist called no one a redneck. As I have no exposure whatsoever of what the southerner considers a redneck, I've got to stay out of this discussion. My father's neck was quite red; I've got a few years in on that myself. I simply don't see the perjorative.
