My opinion, and it is just an opinion, is that Sherman destroyed civilian property, not military property, which makes him guilty of war crimes (or any such term as may apply). If Gen. Forrest is to be held accountable for an alleged massacre at Ft. Pillow (a military installation, not civilian), then Sherman is certainly guilty of something. Albert Sailhorst Scott's Battery
