And then there was Lagrange, Georgia, where 40 ladies marched out to fight Sherman's troopers. The ladies of Lagrange were armed with pitchforks and muskets. There were no men left to fight, so the ladies did what they could to defend their homes. Was this a fortified place, in your definition?
