Jefferson got himself stuck on the same dilemma's horns that gored Lincoln. This is not right -- now, how do we fix it? Ummmmmm. I don't know. At the time (and as Dixie Girl has pointed out, some of that is still around), the black was considered to be incapable of surviving without the support of whites. Lincoln supported colonization; Jefferson gave up trying to find an answer. That both have been proven to be wrong is beside the point. Just a thought. ole
