As a result of these actions and many many others in the same vein, federal dollars have flowed to Gettysburg from those days to this.. look at the comparative budgets for the various military parks and don't for one moment think that federal spending does not influence the perception we have of the park and the significance of the battle.
This is not meant to be a criticism of G'burg, but rather an alternative look at the significance of that battle from the perspective of the 20th and 21st centuries
