I'm not sure I would classify Lee as being opposed to slavery. I would use the term "uncomfortable" with. He didn't embrace the institution, but some of his quotes bare out the fact that he did see it as necessary. I'd kind of group him in with Jefferson and Washington and their views.

Jefferson was quite the paradox. Even though he wanted to see the institution removed through the Constitution, he couldn't find a way to free his own slaves. He still owned slaves at the time of his death.

Longstreet is a good question. I've never seen an answer, which would make me think that he did not own any slaves.
