Return to Bull Run : the campaign and battle of Second Manassas by John Hennessy. Pope really was oblivious...and a horse's patoot! I like Samuel Sturgis' comment, "I don't care for John Pope one pinch of owl dung!" This is the first scholarly examination of 2nd Manassas in quite a number of years; it's well-written and supported with lots of resources. ArtorBart
