I have several great grandfathers who fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War. Jacob King, my grandmother's great grandfather, was in a North Carolina regiment in Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. I have not been able to locate the regiment, but King is somewhat of a local hero and I have been promised his records from Appomattox. My grandfather's great grandfather was Newt Seay of the 10th Arkansas, a veteran of Shiloh, though he died of disease in 1863.
