I can only remember two times that I HAD to be in front of the television for a mini-series. The first time was "Roots". The only other time was for this Ken Burns series. This series rekindled a latent love for history, and specifically the Civil War. Without this series, I would never have found the time to visit Shiloh, which led me to believe that I could draw a map better than anything that the park had available. The result can be debated, but I alternately bless and curse this series for the way it changed my life.

I can overlook the minor issues for what the entire production succeeded with.
