Interesting comparison:

Headlines today in some of our papers:

Historic Obama Inauguration will cost only $120 million

Obama Spends $120 million on inauguration; America Needs A Big Party

Everyman Obama shows America how to celebrate

Four years ago we saw:

Price of Bush Inauguration Party Is Too Rich for Some

Laura Bush Defends Gala in Time of War and Disaster

For Inauguration in Wartime, a Lingering Question of Tone

Men are dying; let's party!

Extravagant inaugural at this time is in poor taste

Bush inauguration too lavish for wartime

Plutocrats Ball

And yes the NYT's respective headline is in both comparisons.

When the current Fourth Estate dies from their automobile industry-like business practices, don't expect me to shed a tear but someone with responsibility will need to fill the void.

Just $120M indeed! Has the inflation of $75M in 2005 really increased $75M to that amount in our current economy?
