 Here's one from one of my eighth graders, as we were studying the background of The Miracle Worker, and discussing how the South felt about the North.

Howcome Yankees are called Yankees? Where did that come from? Anyone know?

I myself threw a couple ideas at them, but realized I wasn't sure, myself! And then someone else asked:

Where did the name Johnny Reb come from?

Eighth graders are one big question!
