Nevertheless, David, I have one on dvd. It is likely a copy and possibly pirated, but I do have it. And the extra hour or so is well worth watching. It does make commercial sense to slaughter a movie and leave some really good stuff on the cutting-room floor. Your basic movie-goer is not going to care much more than butt comfort. Us freakazoids will endure all kinds of discomfort (with the exeption of a lack of beer or popcorn) to see every second of that which was cut. On the other hand, if there is a director's cut of "Gods and Generals," I don't want to see it. I have yet to watch that all the way through. In one sitting. I either get an irresistable desire to go to the hardware store or cook up a snack somewhere about 20 minutes into it. Dropping off into a nap is also a factor. Ole
