I believe Falci, who portrayed A.P. Hill in the movie "Gettysburg," is the same person of which you speak.

In the group picture below the monument picture, he is identified in the caption as a past president of the NY CWRT. In the picture on the bottom, the caption said he gives lectures on Hill. It all seems to add up: his unusual last name, his interest in Hill, even his uncanny resemblance to the general.
