I agree with you.
Maryland Heights is a wonder. My wife and I once hoofed it up as well (a killer hike IIRC). Until that day I had something loose in my knee, but that hike melted it
The remnants of the fort and the view are amazing. We could not agree if it was the Washington monument we saw in the distance...
