 I did an extensive search of the internet movie database and what follows is a list of the closets titles I found that come anywhere close to the information you provided


A Southern Yankee
A Time Out of War
Advance to the Rear
Drums in the Deep South
The Fabulous Texan

The one that sounded the closest was:

Revolt at Fort Laramie (57)

This one sounded close too but it was in the sixties:
Journey to Shiloh
