 I'm sitting here at 5:30 am going through descriptions of historical markers in California because of this post....I really need to get a life ;):D

Anyway, that's how I'd try to track it down. Go to http://www.hmdb.org/Results.asp?CategoryID=15 - it's a huge list of historical Civil War markers with desriptions. It's broken down by states, and since you have probably a handful of states it would be, you may find it: CA, TX, CO, AZ are the first I'd check. If you're 100% sure the word "Confederate" is on the marker, you could control-F using that to break it down even more. Have fun!

PS- saw nothing in California that matches.
